Job Description:

The Applications Administrator is responsible for working on hosted servers and resolving application issues for Internet Service Platform customers.

No. of Positions



  • 2nd level fault diagnosis & isolation for TDM, VOIP and IP Data network events
  • Remedy trouble ticket reception, creation and handling
  • Support Tier 1 staff for operational contact for service provider and carrier interactions, circuit testing with carriers in support of provisioning and fault isolation
  • Escalation support for customer service centres
  • Assisting in the resolution of wholesale and retail voice reachability issues
  • Assist during downtime or in peak loads with tier 2 retail ticket management & resolution
  • Respond and resolve network problems providing efficient and timely solution for voice, data, and internet networks
  • Pro-actively identify problems and improper functioning of the network where possible
  • Develop and implement innovation approaches that present ongoing benefits in areas of improving system/network manageability and reliability
  • When necessary, report any network troubles to appropriate Telcos or other vendors, and escalate accordingly
  • Follow-up on trouble reports to ensure problem resolution in within service level agreements
  • Promptly document all problems reported by way of trouble ticket system and always maintain accurate records. Monitor ticket queue frequently to ensure highest level of service possible
  • Escalate voice, data, and internet troubles to next escalation level (Team Leader and/or Manager), as required, to ensure restoration of service in a timely manner
  • Provide information about network outages to appropriate internal departments in a timely manner
  • Primary for co-ordinating network maintenance schedules. Notify all departments likely to be affected by network maintenance
  • Monitor and respond to alerts according to urgency, ensuring that alert is being acted on appropriately. Create request tracker tickets as needed, based on alerts
  • Provide back up for TAC and Fraud operations (after regular business hours)
  • Provide technical guidance, training, documentation, and mentoring to junior NOC Team members
  • Additional duties as required and possible assistance on Special Projects



  • Good understanding of TDM and SDH principles
  • Good understanding of IP and data network principles
  • Extensive experience of SDH/Sonet technology
  • Exposure on VoIP switches (Veraz/Sonus/Broadsoft/Genband)
  • Solid diagnostic and fault isolation skills
  • Understanding of SLA’s and Telco agreements
  • Weekend and rotating shift work is necessary to ensure 24/7 coverage of NOC Operations
  • Understanding of criticality of network records maintenance
  • Ability to multi-task and make important decisions independently
  • Advanced knowledge of PC including hardware skills, installations, troubleshooting, conflicts, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows and Unix platforms, technical knowledge (including
    maintenance and troubleshooting) of their respective TCP/IP stacks
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP and ATM (including maintenance and troubleshooting)
  • Technical knowledge (including development, maintenance and troubleshooting) of switching and routing, ADSL, ISDN, and DMS switches
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
  • Good customer service and problem solving skills
  • Good coordination and communication skills
  • Self-motivated to achieve work goals
  • Professional approach towards work related to adherence to timelines and other work responsibilities

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum Education Qualification – B. Tech/BCA
  • Professional accreditation in Networking, Telecommunication and/or equivalent. Cisco Certified Network Associate or higher certification that is current (CCNA/CCNP/CCVP/CCIP)
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in the field of voice & data
  • Knowledge of Internet networking and associated hardware
  • VoIP platform fault isolation, Broadsoft, Acme Packet, Veraz, Sonus soft switch/Media Gateways.
  • Network diagnosis and fault isolation: Lucent, Cisco, Redback, Extreme Networks, ECI and Nortel
  • Experienced with translations, routing and SS7/C7 signalling issues
  • Experience on any digital TDM switch/soft switch
  • Experience on any SDH digital transmission network
  • Experience on any Cisco routers/switches
  • Cabling and installation experience
  • Alarm management systems user
